Writing progress as of 1st November 2018.

First day of NaNoWriMo ! And my first day back writing properly in a while, too. I’m starting the final act now, our hero is fighting back; and it’s hard not to draw at least a small parallel between that and my own return to the battle against this unfinished book. Although I have to be honest that the fear of a blank page and the sacrifice of a couple of hours a day or nothing compared to what my protagonist is going to have to face in the next few chapters!

For anyone doing NaNoWriMo, you’ll know that you need to do 50,000 words in the month of November. Simple maths says that this requires an average of 1,667 words per day for 30 days. As I mentioned yesterday I don’t have as many words to write, but I’ve still managed more than that daily figure today. In fact at the current rate, I might well finish in about two weeks. As always though, this is assuming I don’t hit any major roadblocks - but in keeping with the NaNoWriMo mentality and much of the writing advice I’ve received, I’m not going to obsess over writing the perfect final act but instead focus on writing to the end. I’ve do rather like this quote, it does sum up this attitude well:

You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page.
